Poems by Aubrey O'Fallon
Can you help me I'm lost
I can't find my home
I looked where I live
but this home is not my own
I looked where I grew up
but found I had grown out of that place
I looked where my home used to be
but nobody lives there anymore
Can you help me I'm tired
I can't find my rest
I sleep all night but wake up weary
For there is no one beside me anymore
I work hard to finish all my tasks
So I can have some moments of peace
Only to find I cannot settle
And desperately start looking for something else
To fill the time
Can you help me I'm cold
I can't find warmth
These blankets will not keep out a chill
That comes from within
The only remedy is two arms
Wrapped firmly around me
Can you help me I'm hurt
I can't find my comfort
I have found diversions
And temporary pleasures
That are bandaids trying to cover
A broken heart that is missing
A heart that is somewhere
in the glint of his eye
the sound of his voice
the touch of his hand
things I can hold on to
for no more than a fleeting second
captured in a memory
brought with a twinge of pleasure and pain
between moments of waking and sleep
fading away into numbness
Tell me, my friend,
how did you lose all these things?
I sold them in order to have myself
I traded them for my freedom
And I want to know if I
Can get a refund
